 THE GASMAN - MORNINGS 5-10AM

The story of “The Gasman” begins innocently enough in a Small Town, USA. It was a cold November night when I entered the world, or was “hatched” as my grandpa used to like to say. Either way, shortly after that almost all of the people in the hospital were found to be staring up into the air and pointing.  Then someone shouted “Look up in the air, it’s a bird, it’s a plane!”  At that precise moment from the delivery room, I squealed “Pull my Finger,” and so the legend of “The Gasman” began.

Actually, the real story goes like this; I was born in a small town in Iowa and it was a bitterly cold night in November. My folks named me shortly after I arrived and I ended up with the initials G.A.S., I did not know the significance of those 3 little letters until much later.

Six months later, my family moved to Denver where it was also sometimes bitterly cold. I grew up as any “normal” kid would I even graduated near the top of my class from South High School in 1973. And yes I was “normal”, with the exception of my initials being G.A.S., and the fact that by this time it had been discovered that I had more than my share of flatulence. By this time I was more or less a “man” and so the association was set in stone. Right then, I made the decision to use it to my advantage and thrive with it!! Plus I figured maybe it would help me get some chicks! Either way, “The Gasman” was off and running!

I missed the draft lottery for Vietnam by one number, so I considered myself lucky and went to college to better myself, and maybe meet some chicks! First it was Metro State, then Vocational Technical School for some broadcast engineering know how and then off into the work force and real life…..and maybe some chicks!

My first gig was running the control board and being the producer for a then unknown talk show host named Alan Berg. From there I was off to Aspen for an extended stay on the slopes and the radio. Upon regaining some sanity, I moved back to Denver and rode the airwaves on and off for the next 15 years. During that time I also tried my hand at running several small businesses including Voice Coaching, Concert Promoting and a very cool Limousine service too. And yes, I also met some chicks, which I now refer to as ex-wives.

So now everything I had was gone, and I started over again doing what I knew best…..Radio!! I got a part time gig at KYGO in Denver and started the rebuilding process, not knowing that this was where I would meet the current and final chick in my life! So it’s been 13 years since my lovely wife Meg and I moved to Fort Collins to live happily ever after, and so far so good! We love living in Northern Colorado for all the usual reasons, the mountains, the recreation, the people etc etc!! One of the things I’m really enjoying the most is the fact that I get to be a part of this incredible Radio station, MAX-FM!! The people that listen to a radio station are part of what makes it GREAT!! So thanks! I wouldn’t do it without YOU!!

Now you know the story of “THE GASMAN”!
